Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

The short version: Your parent's health and motion data never leave their device. MyParentCare shares only a minimal "active today" signal with the family. No cameras, no microphones, no location tracking, and no account for the parent.

1. Two roles, two data realities

MyParentCare has two kinds of users, and we treat their data very differently:

  • The parent (monitored person) — their device is local-only and passwordless. They never create an account. Their health and motion data stay on their iPhone.
  • The family member (payer) — creates an account to receive reassurance and alerts, and manages the subscription.

2. What we collect

From the family member's account

  • Email address and a securely hashed password.
  • An optional display name.
  • Subscription status (managed through Apple; see "Payments" below).
  • An Apple Push Notification (APNs) token so we can send alerts.

From the parent's device

  • A parent is provisioned anonymously when they tap a pairing link — we generate an internal placeholder identifier (e.g. elder-<random>@guardian.local). No real email, name, or password is required or requested from the parent.
  • A device identifier used only to link the parent's phone to the family and to record activity signals.
  • A minimal "active / inactive today" signal with timestamps, plus low-risk device metadata that helps interpret it — for example, that the phone's battery is critically low or that the device was powered off.

We never collect: raw step counts, health records, GPS or location history, camera or microphone data, messages, contacts, or browsing activity.

3. What stays on the device

The sensing that powers MyParentCare — reading steps, motion, and phone unlocks through Apple's on-device frameworks — happens entirely on the parent's iPhone. That raw health and motion data is processed locally into a single yes/no "active today" conclusion. Only that conclusion (and the minimal metadata above) is transmitted. The underlying health data itself is never uploaded to our servers or to any third party.

4. How we use data

  • To confirm the parent has been active during their normal daily hours.
  • To send escalating alerts to the family if activity unexpectedly stops (approximately: a heads-up at ~6 hours, the whole family at 12 hours, a critical alert at 24 hours).
  • To operate accounts, authentication, and the subscription.
  • To keep the service secure and to diagnose technical problems.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

5. Who we share with

We share data only with service providers who help us run the app, and only to the extent needed:

  • Apple — for App Store distribution, push notifications (APNs), and subscription billing. Apple processes your payment; we never see your full card details.
  • Subscription management (RevenueCat) — to verify and manage your subscription status.
  • Infrastructure & hosting — to store account data and activity signals needed to deliver alerts.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a user in a genuine emergency.

6. Retention & deletion

We keep account and activity data for as long as the account is active. When you delete your account, we perform a soft-delete and then permanently purge the associated data after a 30-day grace period, except where we are legally required to retain limited records. You can request deletion at any time from within the app or by contacting us.

7. Security

Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Authentication tokens and device tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for data minimization — the less we collect, the less there is to protect.

8. Children & eligibility

MyParentCare is intended for adults (18+). It is not directed at children, and the monitored person should be set up with their knowledge and consent.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. Because the parent's side is anonymous and local-only, most of that data can be removed simply by unpairing or deleting the app on the parent's device.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
